Whenever you travel to the east
destination of West Java, for example, Pangandaran and decide to visit another
destination along the journey, don’t forget to visit Garut, a city known for
dodol (traditional chewy candy), Batik Garutan (a fabric with traditional motives), vetiver handicrafts and the great breed of sheep (Domba Garut). You’ll get there after a
tired 5 hours land journey from Jakarta and, you might need a transit to take
rest just to strecth your body or, perhaps, a nice soak in Cipanas hot spring water.
Cipanas is a region in Garut Regent, West Java. Rent a car along with the driver or take public transportation, a bus, from Jakarta. If you go with a bus, depart from the Jakarta bus terminal, Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal. To reach a bus terminal from Soekarno – Hatta International Airport, find a DAMRI bus. The DAMRI bus will take you to Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal in 2 hours at IDR 25.000 rate of pay. From Kampung Rambutan, hop in to any bus provides a route to Garut. You have to pay around IDR 40K or 80K for the rate and it’s subject to the bus facilities. When you arrive to Garut, ask the driver to stop at Tugu Adipura, get down and find a brown minibus we use to call it ’angkot’ numbered 04. The angkot will take you Cipanas.
As you get there, you will find hotels
or cottages provide natural hot water bath, swimming pools or water parks which
water is sourced from hot spring and bathrooms for rent. Rate is varied from
the cheapest to the most expensive. I suggest Sabda Alam or Kampung Sumber Alam
for water park. Kampung Sumber Alam provides hot spring bathroom as well.
